Economist Dr. Alan S. Blinder Joins Board of Financial Start-Up On Deck Capital

(New York, NY) July 10, 2008 – On Deck Capital, the first-of-its kind financing solution for small businesses, announced today that preeminent economist Dr. Alan S. Blinder has joined its Board of Directors. Dr. Blinder is renowned for his government service - first as a member of President Clinton’s original Council of Economic Advisers, and then as Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Dr. Blinder brings to the company decades of national economic policy shaping, having served in senior posts throughout the financial, academic and government sectors.

The addition of Dr. Blinder to the board supports On Deck’s mission - to connect Wall Street capital to Main Street businesses. Dr. Blinder, one of the nation’s economic thought leaders, is Director of Princeton’s Center for Economic Policy Studies, which he founded in 1990, and is the Gordon S. Rentschler Memorial Professor of Economics and Public Affairs at Princeton University. Dr. Blinder is also Vice Chairman of the Promontory Interfinancial Network, an organization founded by bank industry leaders to provide a network of over 2000 financial institutions with profit-enhancing solutions. In addition to his service under Clinton’s presidency, Dr. Blinder served as an economic adviser to Al Gore and John Kerry during their 2000 and 2004 presidential campaigns. He has authored and co-authored 17 books and has written scores of scholarly articles. Dr. Blinder is a member of the Board of Directors of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the Bretton Woods Committee and the Bellagio Group, a former governor of the American Stock Exchange, and has been elected to the American Philosophical Society and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
